Facebook is slowly rolling out an updated design for Facebook business pages. You may have already seen the notice on your page alerting you to the changes, and you even have the option to get on the waiting list and have the change happen sooner rather than later. Most people don't like change, but I have a feeling we're ALL going to like most of the changes that are coming.
Here are the changes you can expect:
Looks a lot like your personal page: The right column will have your feed while the left column will have information about your business. It is much more pleasant on the eyes.
Admin tools at your fingertips: No more hunting and pecking for insights or leaving your page to go to ads manager to see how your ads are doing or to modify them. Everything is right at the top of your page.
Pages to watch for everyone: The Pages to Watch feature was slowly released late last year, but it was only visible to the person who set them up. Now ALL admins will be able to view the pages you've added to this section. If you haven't launched this on your page, it's a great way to keep an eye on your competition's pages (if you so choose).
Customizable tabs are no more - You can still have custom landing pages, but you will not have the ability to have a custom tab. All of your tabs will be located under the "MORE" button.
Remember a few weeks ago when I talked about the new Paper app and how great content and IMAGES were going to become even more important? This new layout is another reason why. Remember that once a follower likes your page they rarely, if ever, come back to the actual page. Instead, they will see your content in the stream on their wall (if you've gotten them to engage with your brand, that is), and what pops out the most? Images. Is it all making sense now?
Let me know what you think of the new design once your company page updates to it!
