We were all amazed when the Vine application came out, and we could put together a smorgasbord of video on loop for six seconds. The possibilities were
A few weeks ago, Instagram officially announced that they were adding a “video” feature. The first thought that came into my mind was that of Vine, as I felt the creators of the app shift uncomfortably in their seats from wherever in the world they sat. Then, the blow: Instagram video allows fifteen-second videos with 13 filters and editing.
The even more awkward part? Instagram’s dominance on Twitter is pushing out Vine, which is owned by Twitter. According to Mashable, “Data [by Simply Measured] showed twice as many top 100 brands recently used Instagram Video as Vine.” How can this happen in the week of its brand new debut? Well, Instagram already had loyal followers for the photo feature while Vine was still building its customer base. Advantage: Instagram.
So considering these two applications, you can still use both for business and leisure activity. Vine may be experiencing some turbulence after Instagram video’s release, but it can still be utilized within social media. Here is my breakdown of what you should think about when using each platform:
We can’t completely throw Vine under the bus, as it paved the way for an easy way to upload quick, creative videos. However, Instagram video currently takes the cake for being the king of videos for both our personal and business worlds. It will be interesting to see when, and if, Vine can make a comeback.
